Black Women Connect Vancouver is a collective of women who come together to inspire, empower, leverage our strengths and embrace our diverse experiences. It’s a community where Black women in Vancouver can build meaningful relationships, and celebrate the beauty of Black womanhood.
Vancouver has a very small black population that is also unequally dispersed throughout the Lower Mainland. This has made it essential for collectives such as Black Women Connect Vancouver to bridge the gaps that have been created in the local black community, particularly among Black women here.
Vision
We want to see Black Women inspired and empowered to build community. To connect with each other for support to overcome disenfranchisement within our community. We want Black women to live out their full potential as they are taught to apply practical tips on life, wellness, and leadership choices; and empower Black women with resources that will equip them to flourish in their various environments.
Mission
Our mission is to provide a space for Black women to develop community through events, mentorship, wellness support and resources.
PROGRAMS
Events-Black Women Connect Vancouver (BWCV) hosts a diverse range of events tailored to the holistic well-being and empowerment of Black women. Our Exhale Wellness Conference is dedicated to nurturing mental, physical, and soul health, providing a space for Black women to prioritize their overall wellness. Additionally, our networking events offer opportunities for Black women to showcase their businesses and leadership in various fields, fostering professional growth and collaboration within our community. Moreover, we recognize the importance of experiencing Black joy, which is why we organize events such as High Tea, Holiday Party, Sip and Paint, and more, where Black women can come together to celebrate, connect, and uplift one another.
Podcast - Girl! You know it...is a podcast started and made by Black Women Connect Vancouver. The podcast’s aim is to have a space to have deeper conversations and to have guests join in these conversations.
Empowered Black Girl - Empowered Black Girl is a conference for Black teen girls in British Columbia, Canada. The program will provide a platform for Black girls to interact & have empowering discussions with leading Black women from the private and public sectors in Canada.
Moms Connect - Moms Connect is a group that was created out of a need in BWCV. Black mothers find themselves at a disadvantage for support and resources and this support group will help build community. Find the group on Facebook here
Elevate Her Conference - is a conference for Black Women. Put on by Black Women Connect Vancouver (BWCV), Black Business Association of British Columbia (BBABC) and Synergy Executive & Boards Consulting Group, this conference is an engaging and interactive event. Attendees are encouraged to build relationships and learn from one another, while actively participating in sessions and experiences that foster growth and creativity. Aspiring and established leaders will redefine leadership by exploring how we are all leaders in our individual spheres.
