  • Mahlet Bereket

    Mahlet Bereket serves as Treasurer of Black Women Connect Vancouver (BWCV). Holding a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of British Columbia and accounting courses from Douglas College, she brings her passion for social justice and expertise in finance to her role. Currently employed at a non-profit, Mahlet's experience in budget management and resource allocation informs her work at BWCV. Driven by her experiences and a desire to make a meaningful impact, Mahlet is deeply committed to supporting and uplifting Black women in the Vancouver community. Having witnessed firsthand the unique challenges and barriers Black women face, Mahlet recognizes the importance of creating spaces for connection, support, and empowerment. She is excited to contribute her skills and knowledge to an organization that shares her vision for a more inclusive and equitable society. As Treasurer, Mahlet is committed to ensuring transparency, accountability, and effective stewardship of BWCV's financial resources.

  • Winnie Keji

    Winnie is a seasoned leadership and management professional with extensive experience in both the public & private sectors on a global scale. She has worked in the finance, tourism & hospitality, retail, and medical-legal industries. With over 15 years of diverse experience, she has held senior leadership roles where she demonstrated expertise in strategic planning, organizational development, human resources, to mention but a few.

    Winnie holds a double degree; a Bachelor of Tourism Management and Marketing from Thompson Rivers University with a minor in Human Resources, a Professional Leadership and Management certificate from Royal Roads University, an IATA/UFTAA diploma, and is currently pursuing other certifications.

    As a board member at Black Women Connect Vancouver (BWCV), she brings valuable insights into developing and implementing operational strategies, organizational development, and management; helping the organization fulfill its mission and achieve sustainable growth. She has supported in fundraising for the Empowered Black Girl (EBG) conference for four years now, mentoring, and even working on securing internships for some of the girls which has driven growth and continues to create a lasting impact.

    In addition to her professional work, Winnie is passionate about giving back to the community through volunteering for multiple non-profit organizations as a mentor and a participant in dynamic teams. BWCV is important to Winnie because it is a community and a sisterhood of Black Women from all walks of life; connecting, sharing stories, and unapologetically accepting themselves, while doing incredible work for their communities.

  • Ruthie Unaegbu

    Ruthie, a Nigerian-Canadian, is a Registered Clinical Counsellor and Supervisor (RCC #12132) who wears many hats: actress, doula, fitness and nutrition coach, and website developer. Currently working at a non-profit agency as the Manager of Counselling Services, Ruthie helps parents and caregivers seeking more effective ways of parenting. Ruthie plans to open her own counselling private practice, through which she hopes to support Black people seeking healing, transformation, and validation.

    Ruthie is honoured to be on the board of Black Women Connect Vancouver and is eager to support, empower, and connect with Black women in the Lower Mainland through this platform.

  • Rosemary Mwipiko

    Originally from Zambia and raised in New Zealand, Rose currently works as a Senior Researcher for a women-led non-profit based in Rwanda. She holds a Master's in Public Health and has a background in Environmental Sciences and Geography, and is deeply passionate about exploring how people's health is influenced by their environment. Her studies in public health have deepened her understanding of the impact of surroundings on mental and physical health, especially in youth and marginalized groups.

    As a strong advocate for physical, mental and spiritual health, she practices what she preaches and can often be found rock climbing, reading or running along the sea wall.

    Rose was drawn to Black Women Connect Vancouver (BWCV) due to her strong commitment to community wellness, a value that closely aligns with the organization's mission. She's enthusiastic about supporting and contributing to the board's vision of inspiring and empowering its members, bringing her health knowledge and experience to enrich the community.

  • Marce Miller

    Marce Miller is a Jamaican Canadian working as a Realtor in the lower mainland for Keller Williams Realty VanCentral. She holds a B.Sc. in Environmental Sciences from Royal Roads University and a diploma in Biological Sciences from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology. Marce has always been driven by a desire to create positive change and support to her fellow sisters in a variety of areas such as health & safety, education and mentorship. As a Real Estate Agent, she is fuelled by a commitment to promote homeownership, create stability, security and build wealth generation within the black community. Marce is a member of the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Advisory Group with the Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver who’s mission is to facilitate education and awareness of unconscious bias and discrimination within the real estate industry. She is also a member of the Black Realtor’s Association of Canada (BRAC) that aims to be the prominent Real Estate resource for Black Real Estate Professionals and their community in Canada.

    Marce is excited to be a member of Black Women Connect Vancouver (BWCV) to contribute her skills and expertise. She is thrilled to collaborate with like-minded individuals who share a passion for advancing the well-being and representation of Black women in Vancouver and beyond. Marce is confident that we can make meaningful strides towards empowering, uplifting, and celebrating the resilience and achievements of every Black women.
